Once upon a time....no that's not right

How about there once was...no way that's crap too.

Alright.

So anyway, there are multiple existences out there, untied to each other. Sometimes odd crossovers happen, although these are rare. This particular one happened between 4 such existences. Four beings, while going about whatever they had been doing, felt a tug from nowhere. When they turned around to see where it had come from, they saw a glowing rectangle about the size of a door. This 'doorway' blazed with light, and their vision filled with white...

*    *    *

Of course, a certain being from a certain existence with a certain name always had a certain place in mind, of which he was certain to go. Unusual things seldom happened to this particular being, especially events like this that seemed to be out of his control. Doctor Dee, as he was called, abruptly found himself standing in the sun in the middle of a lovely, grassy field. This field was bordered by a forest, which was composed of broadleaf trees mixed with a few evergreens every now and then. The field itself had several small hills, and the light breeze made the grass wave in a dreamlike fashion. It appeared to be spring season.

However, the first thing Dee noticed was that he was not where he had been moments ago, and that this place was definitely not where he had meant to go. The second thing he noticed was that he was not alone in the field. Interested for the moment, Dee elected to stay put.

Nuke woke up in a field of grass. Except this was definitely NOT where he had been a few moments ago. He had been meditating in his large sanctum.
If this place didn't seem so peaceful, I would almost think this was Apollyon again he thought, the entire thought process he had been going through taking less than a second.
Nuke allowed himself to feel the area, and immediately noticed the presence of others. He got up, ever composed, and took a walk towards one of the beings, with a mask with a large beak.

"-nd if you keep failing like this, then I'll have to- what?"  The tan drake spun around, the glow in his eyes dissipating.  Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew being this easily distracted was something he would never live down, not with these people, but there was something very strange going on.  He was vaguely aware of the gasps of his oh-so-stubborn 'chosen' behind him, but that wasn't nearly as interesting as the strange glowing 'door' opening before him.  "heh," he muttered, "we'll-"

"-have to talk later"

Zal-Tek blinked, looking around him with an expression a bit too curious to really be surprised.  Before the light around him had even entirely faded, he had done a check of the magic in the area.  It didn't match any of the other gods, but it was far too potent to be anything else.  Interesting.

There were three other signatures though, they had appeared out of nowhere- well, he supposed he was the one who appeared out of nowhere.  He didn't recognize them, but he could tell that none of them had anything to do with the door.  They were, however, wielders of some power different from anything he'd seen.  Though not quite enough that he couldn't sense it.  The first one Zal-Tek noticed was blindingly obvious, but somehow also subtle.  He could tell the being had a lot of power, but he could tell nothing else.  Another was reasonably skilled, at among mortals he often met, and the third...  Perhaps he had some potential, but it was hard to tell.

Finally, he actually looked around.  Mismatched eyes scanned the area, noting several different beings.  He tensed slightly at the sight of one of them, a cloaked humanoid figure wearing a birdlike mask.  This was the source of the strange power he had sensed, and it unnerved him how utterly unreadable he was.  Perhaps it was best not to look dangerous.

Quickly, he swiped his tail across the grass, wiping off the blood he had gotten on the blade strapped to his tail moments before.  He took a few steps toward the cloaked figure, noting that another creature did the same.  "Greetings," he said cautiously, all too aware that he was about to give away his own ignorance, "do you... Happen to have any idea where we are?"

Hardly thinking twice about the stupid glowing door, Whitefire had very willingly gone through, and didn't seem too surprised to find herself standing in a beautiful field. Her orange eyes narrowed and adjusted to the change quickly, and she noticed three other figures not far from her. Un-moving, Whitefire studied the three beings....creatures...or whatever they were, from a distance before suddenly racing over, a grin on her face.

Gracefully, she bumped into the one with the bird mask as she, instead of stopping to talk, did a few front-flips past them, landed softly, and plopped herself into the grass. She laid on her back and looked up at the sky happily, making a quiet chirrup sound. "It's nice out today, eh?" she called to the strangers with a laugh.

Momentarily surprised by the appearance of three non-human creatures that all approached him at the same time, Dee did not say anything at once. He flinched visibly at the large feline's touch, and took a step back from everyone. He decided that this situation was the most odd thing he had ever experienced, in almost every sense of the word.

It was then it occurred to Dee that it appeared that these three beings were aware of his presence. He had known, of course, but the idea in itself had just settled in. Out of politeness, Dee thought to answer the scaled creature's question, but found he did not have an answer. This too was unusual.

"My apologies," Dee said quietly, after a few moments of hesitation, "I do not know this place..."

Nuke looked around at the other beings, feeling their physical details through his sensory aura. He decided to be civil and introduce himself. "Greetings, I am Nuke. What are your names?"

Whitefire snorted, looking over from her position in the grass. "Where are we? Who cares? As long as we aren't dead or dying it's a good place to be." Laughing, she still didn't get up. "But I will say the three of you are quite different, and possibly- if I may say so- slightly disturbing to one such as myself. Though I can say I've seen stranger things...." With an odd abruptness, the Ultamian got to her feet, brushing some stray grass from her cape as she walked over to the three of them, smiling faintly.

Suddenly gaining a soft elegance and poise, Whitefire nodded a greeting to them, and turned to the one who had asked for her name. "The name is Whitefire Zilaco Tequiiya, darling," she said with a smile. "Yours?"

Zal-Tek bowed his head in greeting, though he did not smile.  "I am Zal-Tek," he stated simply, deciding to go with the somewhat more honest route.  He knew for a fact that his feeble attempt to clean his blade had no chance of working well if anyone was looking, or had much of a sense of smell.

He took the time he gained with such a short introduction to try and come up with a way to explain that. 'I murdered an idiot because my pawns were too stupid to' was out no matter how honest he wanted to be. 'It needed to be done' was simple, but iffy. He settled on 'self defense' after a moment's consideration. Defending himself, defending his plans, close enough.

"I have many names," stated Dee quietly, inclining his head, "but for brevity, you may call me Doctor Dee." He said nothing else, lapsing back into a calm silence and tucking his hands behind his back. His dark form seemed very out of place on the green, grassy background of the field.

Nuke nodded to each as they introduced themselves. "It is good to mee you all." he responded. He paused, having noticed Zap-Tel's dirty blade when he came up. "Are you an assassin? he asked him, "You seem to have killed someone recently"

Whitefire purse her lips, noticing the blood on Zal-Tek's sword. She smiled. "I'll pretend I don't see that....pfff." Her attempt to not laugh was obvious. "And....Doctor Dee, you say?" She reached around him and took one of his hands in a handshake. "Good to meet you..." Twitching her whiskers and smiling, Whitefire seemed to be the only one who wasn't at all uneasy.

"An assasin?" Zal-Tek scoffed. "You say that as if someone would be able to hire me." He raised an eyebrow, wondering why such a specific profession was the first thing that came to this stranger's mind. "But no," he continued, "a matter of self defense. I make it a point to be able to keep myself safe under any and all circumstances, though..." he smirked, "this is a new one."

Too polite to pull away, Dee hesitantly shook Whitefire's hand. He was distinctly surprised, but this didn't show in his countenance, and now he too distracted to answer the question of what they were doing there.

"Like any of us know the the heck we are doing here. I doubt any of us were even sure what we were doing before we got here." Whitefire chuckled, noticing Doctor Dee's hesitant cooperation to handshake. "Oh, I'm sorry," she laughed. "You don't like the contact much, hm?" Of course, she'd known this already, but had found it an appropriate time to begin harassing these new people. It's not like they'd meet again....she planned to be gone in a few minutes anyways.

Zal-Tek rolled his eyes. It seemed that Nuke was going to make his own opinions, regardless of what he was told. Not that it mattered that much, he had far more than a tail blade up his figurative sleeve. As for why they were here, he had no idea, and he hated not knowing things.

"Well," he said, "I certainly didn't come here on purpose, and I've never seen this place before. If no one else knows what's going on, I suggest we try to find out."

He wasn't entirely eager to stick around these strange people, but in all likelyhood they would be willing to help each other, if only to figure out how to get home. He supposed he had a few ways he could get back on his own, but none of them involved getting the others back to their respective homes too. More importantly, there was only one course of action that might tell him how he had gotten here in the first place. So that was the one he chose.

Doctor Dee was not too concerned with getting home. He did not have a 'home,' in the sense of a location in which he resided. Dee tended to be wherever he was needed most, and as of this moment, he had the sense that this was the place he was meant to be. He was not sure what to think of these strange beings, as they were beyond anything he had encountered before, but he was willing to let the situation play out before making any lasting judgments.

"Where do you suggest we go?" Dee asked softly, returning his hands behind his back. From what he could see, there appeared to be woodland in every direction. Dee rather liked forests, but he knew for some this was not the case.

Zal-Tek was going to say something about not being an idiot and maybe they should think before taking off in a random direction, but he stopped himself. Everything in view was identical, and even if it hadn't been, they had no idea what was good here just by looking. With a sigh, he followed Nuke, off into the woods with no idea where they were going. It was only then that he fully realized how stupid their plan was.

"Okay, why exactly are you starting to walk, without actually knowing where you're going?" Whitefire was very much confused about the sudden idiocy that presented itself. She was fine with the forest, but she didn't want to travel haphazardly with no discernible direction. Groaning, Whitefire plopped herself down in the grass again, debating whether she really wanted to walk with a bunch of people she hardly knew, or if she'd rather go alone...

Hearing Whitefire, Nuke stopped walking and turned towards her "I am going this way because it is more productive than just sitting here, and since no one seems to have any idea where we should go, we might as well just choose a direction and stick to it until a better option presents itself."

"Yes, well," Whitefire laughed softly. "I do happen to have a better option, I just hadn't gotten around to presenting it." She let her wings materialize so they could be seen, and stretched them out suddenly, rising quickly into the air. "I'll take a look around for all of you." She hovered for a moment, looking at Nuke and resting a hand on the hilt of her sheathed sword. "And Nuke, dear, I feel the need to advise you to speak more kindly in the presence of a lady." With a quick wink, she rose higher into the air, assessing the area from her vantage point.

Zal-Tek blinked, watching Whitefire ascend. This was new. He realized that he had no way of knowing what these people were capable of, wielding magic and technology that he had never encountered before. He didn't like being this clueless. But then, that was why he was staying here, for now at least.

Not for the first time, he wished he had put effort into creating a form for himself that had wings. Yet somehow he never got around to it. He figured it was because changing that much required too much effort. Hopefully Whitefire would be able to guess where they were going. "Do you see anything?" he called up, curious.

Nuke rolled his eyes slightly at Whitefire, as he stood on the ground below her. She hadn't considered that there were alternatives to flying when it came to knowing what was around them. And right now he knew that this forest stretched for several miles.
