The dance quickly came to an end as Whitefire took the last few steps. Stopping with her back toward him, she tilted her head back to look at him, smiling. "You're pretty good, hm?" Laughing quietly, she stood upright. "Thank you, by the way."

Dee, who had watched the dance with a very faint smile of amusement on his face, clapped softly. The dance the two had done was something that he was very sure no human could pull off, and for that reason, it had been very interesting to watch.

While Dee clapped, Nuke looked on with a slight smile and folded arms. After a minute or two he released his arms and said to them "Now that you two are finished with your waltzing, perhaps you would like to continue walking?"

Zal-Tek dropped back down onto all fours, chuckling. He bowed, then turned to face Nuke. "Yes," he agreed, "we had best get going." With that, he started walking again, almost as if nothing had happened.

Following with a light step, Whitefire lost a bit of her smile, looking a bit more out of it now. Not irritated, but slightly thoughtful. "Yeah, we should hurry I suppose..." Her ears flicked. "What we are hurrying to I don't know."

They walked on in silence. As time passed, the way became steeper. Water could be heard ahead, rushing as if they were approaching a waterfall. On either side of the party, the ground began to rise until it became apparent they had wandered into a gulley. Following a shallow streamlet, they rounded a bend and came upon an interesting terrain formation.

The streamlet emptied down into a roundish pit, approximately fifty yards wide, made of a whitish stone. There were a few small ponds in this area, alive with lilypads and flowers.

Across from the group, a rough set of chiseled stairs could be seen leading out of the pit. It would be a steep, thirty foot climb down into the tiny valley, but it appeared to be the only path.

Nuke surveyed the pit before them with the stairs. I wonder what the presence has in store for us with this pit he thought to himself. He was already scanning the area, so he said "Well, looks like our path is down, anyone object?"

Zal-Tek shook his head. "Not unless someone has a better idea," he said. The place below looked nice, he supposed, but that was exactly why it was suspicious. With the knowledge that there was some powerful being guiding them to who-knows-where, he decided it would be best not to assume anything about the place.

Still, it was true. He had no better idea, and he did want to see where the presence wanted them to go, if only out of curiosity. With one last look around, he began making his way down the steps, keeping his guard up.

Slowly noticing the steep decent, and coming out of her spaced-out thinking slightly, Whitefire stopped, looking down. Without a word, or even another moment's hesitation, she let her wings materialize as she suddenly took a flying leap off the edge. Flying silently downward, the white cat sighed, her eyes narrowing. She landed with a soft thump at the bottom and her wings disappeared.

Looking around quietly, Whitefire walked up to one of the small ponds and knelt in front of it, her ears pricked as she stared intently into the water. Among the lily-pads, there was an occasional flash as a fish swam lazily by. Ducking down, Whitefire pressed herself to the ground, her tail flicking back and forth as she kept staring, her orange eyes intent.

Her hand flashed out as she tried to scoop a fish out of the water, but she leaned too far forward, instead falling in. Flailing, she sat up, dripping wet, with a huge fish wriggling between her teeth. Still sitting in the pond, she looked back at everyone with a grin on her face as the fish's tail whacked her cheek repeatedly.

Shaking his head at Whitefire's brazenness, Nuke calmly stepped off the edge and lowered down slowly to the edge of the pond in front of Whitefire. He grinned a little, "You certainly seem to enjoy the dramatic, don't you" he commented.

Whitefire certainly would have answered Nuke, but there was a fish currently writhing between her teeth. Carefully she stood, making sure not to slip as she stepped out of the pond to shake herself off. It didn't help her clothes much....those stayed soaked.

Squelching around happily, Whitefire took the fish out of her mouth. "And how's catching a fish being dramatic?"

"Just the wings, and then falling into the water. It's almost as if you want attention" Nuke smiled. Then he looked around the hole they were in as a redundant measure against something sneaking up on them, since his detection field was still up and running.

Zal-Tek chuckled. "Good catch," he congratulated Whitefire offhandedly. He approached the larger pond until he was standing at the edge. He looked down into the water silently, curious. Why was this place here, he wondered, and why had they been led here?

Whitefire stared at Nuke and blinked once. "And why wouldn't I want attention?" She grinned. "I'm a beautiful and confident young woman, so I don't see the problem here." Laughing, she gave the fish to him. "Here ya go."

She squelched away with a smile.

Dee, who had appeared behind Nuke and watched the exchange between the beaver and Whitefire in silence, took a moment to examine the interesting landscape. It was a pretty place, he decided, but like the forest there was something off about it. He watched a bird flit from one of the tress above, and skim low across the water in pursuit of insects.

"How do you suppose a place like this formed?" he asked quietly, talking mostly to himself.

Nuke heard Dee's question."Possibly eroded out by the water, however it seems too artificial. Something made this place." he answered. He noticed on the other side of the area some stairs, and walked towards them, keeping his guard up.

Zal-Tek nodded. "You're right, this is not natural." Fairly confident that nothing in the water was that interesting, he turned around to look at the rest of the area again. Still nothing that interesting, but it was still hard to believe that they had been brought there for no reason.

Whitefire shook herself off once more, trying to get more of the water out of her clothes before following Nuke as he walked to the stairs. She shrugged, grinning. "Well, whoever made it definitely knows what makes someone comfortable in someplace, and what doesn't. It may be fake, but it's still beautiful."

As Nuke neared the stairs, a breeze kicked up within the pit. Leaves swirled. An echo of laughter rang out in the sudden silence, as the birds had gone silent and the frogs had ceased their croaking. The waterfall gurgled once, as if in defeat, and slowly dried up.

Another small gust of wind blew down the staircase into Nuke's face, bringing a few dead leaves and a second peal of laughter with it. The laugh seemed vaguely unearthly, almost childlike but not quite. It was hard to tell if it was a male or female voice, as it possessed qualities of both.

Dee, not too far behind Nuke and Whitefire, froze in his tracks. There was something watching them, and it had made its presence known.

Nuke froze as he heard the laughter and sensed the creek drying up. The mysterious force, or whatever seemed to be out there, seemed to have foregone the option of stealth in favor of getting their attention. He looked around the area just to be sure that nothing was there, his paws up and at the ready.

Zal-Tek froze, though his tail started to twitch.  He scowled, looking around, but didn't see anything.  He growled under his breath, but didn't do anything just yet.  He would wait, and hopefully this creature would reveal itself.  If it didn't...  He didn't really want to keep playing along with this, but he wasn't sure he could quite afford not to.  Something that could hide itself from him was likely a force to be reckoned with.

Whitefire stopped dead in her tracks and shivered...for no reason except the fact she was cold. "Ah....so we are hearing voices now?" She spread out her hands in a welcoming gesture. "Don't worry, my friends, I hear voices all the time, so this shouldn't be a problem." The white cat snorted a bit in amusement before becoming serious.

Her eyes narrowed and orange light sparked from her hands, ears twitching ever so slightly as she listened closely, waiting.

Dee attempted to take a step forward towards Nuke and Whitefire, only to find he could not. Some force, something invisible and nearly unfeelable was blocking his way. He then tried to step around it, only to find that this way too, was blocked. He stepped back, bumping into yet another invisible wall. An earthreal cage. An invisible box.

Dee did not like boxes. He attempted to disappear and reappear outside the box, only to find that for some reason that he could not fathom, he was blocked from doing so. Now he was out of ideas. What Dee did not know was that each member of the party was facing a similar situation, each of them also enclosed inside an unseen barrier.

"Friends," Dee called, "I appear to be trapped..."

While he spoke, the wind continued to pick up. Dark clouds began rolling in, causing the pretty scene to lose its color.

Nuke heard Dee's call, and felt around him, detecting the invisible box. He attempted a teleport, but as he suspected, it was of no avail. Well, it seems that the entity has decided to take a more direct approach he contemplated. He attempted to break the box, but that didn't seem to work either.
Very well then, time to see what it wants he thought. He spoke "Alright entity, show yourself and tell us what you want"

Zal-Tek too attempted to teleport, succeeding only in making a bright golden flash and slamming his head into a wall. He snarled, looking around and still seeing nothing. Given that Nuke had already spoken, he decided he didn't need to add to the possible chaos. He simply waited, motionless, though he did start examining the barrier in every way he could think of, magic and otherwise, for some way to escape. Somehow, he doubted it would work.
